Philosophy
Bright Side Early
Learning Centre believes that learning is a process, one that is initiated and
fostered through play-based opportunities. We aim at providing teachable moments
which promote the practice of language skills, enhancement of social confidences,
the development of fine and gross motor capabilities as well as promoting curiosity
and cognitive growth. Bright Side sees the child as the leader of their own
development, and our trained educators take every opportunity to enrich and
extend their learning in open and diverse ways. We believe everyone within a
child's learning process to be vital contributors, and so we encourage parents
to participate in our daily activities whenever possible.
Staff
Our professional, qualified childcare team is comprised of an Owner/Director, Assistant Director, classroom teachers, and a cook. In accordance with the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services Daycare Act, a minimum of two thirds of our staff are qualified in the field of Early Childhood Education. Our staff are first-aid qualified and regularly attend workshops to maintain a current knowledge base of childcare trends and practices. Each teacher is assigned to a specific group of children for whom they are responsible. The Owner/Director is responsible for all administrative duties and for assisting in the programs when required. We encourage you to ask questions regarding your child's progress, daily schedule, field trips, parental involvement, etc.

Inclusion Statement
Bright Side Early Learning Centre believes that inclusion is giving every child access to, and encouraging meaningful participation in, experiences that create positive outcomes regardless of ability, culture, linguistic level, gender or race.
Diversity is a key component in creating such experiences and environments that build upon each child's strengths, recognizes any barriers and responds to them constructively.
Bright Side Early Learning Centre delivers high quality programming that supports our inclusive vision, while maintaining a natural proportion of diverse abilities and learning styles. Also, as a support to our inclusive vision, we encourage parental involvement and welcome other professionals who are integral parts of each child's learning team into our centre. All families are offered access to our program in the same manner regardless of situation or circumstance.
Every child and every family deserve the opportunity to learn and grow in an inclusive positive environment.
